Volume Normalization in Ventrilo

One of the biggest gripes about ventrilo is the fact that some people’s mics are just way too loud (or even too quiet). Luckily, there’s a quick work-around to make everyone’s volume on your end exactly the same — this is referred to as volume normalization. This feature can be enabled relatively quickly, follow these steps to enable it on your Ventrilo client:

  1. Open up your ventrilo client and go to “Setup.”
  2. Enable direct sound (check “Use direct sound”) and click on the SFX button.
  3. Select “Compressor” and click on “Add.” Use these settings in the compressor properties:
